My father, Jack Barrett, was from Lancashire and enlisted as a Private in the RAOC in October 1939.
He was in the Dunkirk evacuation BEF and received a commendation for his actions.
Jack trained as a specialist in ammunition and in 1941 was posted overseas to Bhavnagar, India. He saw action in Mandalay and Rangoon with the 14th Army, where he reached rank of Sergeant in the RAOC.
My dad never said a word about his time in Burma. Luckily I have letters between mum and dad, and his medals. to remember him. God bless.
