About Our Archive

Our archive contains copies of all of the Burma Star Association membership records and of its magazine, Dekho!

The Burma Star Association was formed in 1951 and has had more than 56,000 members since its founding. It is open to ex-Servicemen, ex-Servicewomen and nurses of all three armed services, as well as the Merchant Navy, who have either been awarded the Burma Campaign Star for service in Burma during the Second World War or received the Pacific Star with Burma clasp.

Our archive contains a copy of the original membership form as completed by the Association member him or herself. The form shows an individual’s full name; their regiment, squadron or ship; home address at the time of application; service number and details of any awarded medals. Whilst we encourage all of our members to provide as many details as possible, not all of the forms have all of fields completed.

Dekho! is the magazine of the Burma Star Association. The first copy was issued in 1951 and continues to be produced and circulated to veterans and their families today. Dekho! covers key Association events over the years and is a rich source of personal testimonies and memories of the Burma Campaign itself. All back copies of Dekho! are available to browse on our website.
