The inaugural Slim Lecture

A new annual lecture on leadership, in the spirit of Field Marshal Slim's Defeat into Victory, will be held on Tuesday 16 February 2027.

The inaugural Slim Lecture, entitled Leadership Against the Threats of Our Time, is to take place in central London (venue tbc) in support of the Burma Star Memorial Fund and the British Forces Foundation.

Former Secretary General of NATO and UK Defence Secretary, Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, will be the speaker. Viscount Slim, chairman of the Burma Star Memorial Fund will host.

The 30 minute lecture will be followed by a moderated Q&A and a drinks reception.

The aim of The Slim Lecture is to keep the legacy of the Burma Campaign and the 14th Army alive; draw out the lessons of Burma for the wars of the future – diversity, innovation, and a multicultural army of many nations and faiths that won together; and to connect serving personnel and the public with that story whilst raising funds for the two charities.

Tickets cost £40 (£15 for serving personnel) and booking opens in January 2027. Places are limited to 250 so to register your interest please email Director@burmastar.org.uk
