Lord Soames to join BSMF at Hereford Military Show

Lord Soames (grandson of former British Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill) will be joining BSMF Chairman, Viscount Slim, and the Charity’s Director, Mark Cann – along with other speakers - for a special talk about all things Burma Star at the 2026 Hereford Military Show.

They, and the Burma Star Memorial Fund Mobile Museum, will be travelling to the September event to bring to life not only the strategy and scale of the Burma Campaign but also the extraordinary human stories behind it and why they continue to matter today.

Some of the world’s leading military historians and authors will be at the show to reflect on the 250th anniversary of the American War of Independence, the 90th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War and the 80th anniversary of the start of the Cold War with Soviet Russia and the Communist bloc.

They will also be examining the role of military force in the creation of the British Empire, celebrating a personal link to the ‘Forgotten Army’ in Burma in WW2, reviewing the current geopolitical landscape and much, much more.
